Last weekend, we hosted our very first Yarn Swap at the Rohnert Park – Cotati Public Library, and it was an incredible success! We were so happy with the turn out and the community involvement. With about 60 crafters in attendance, the room was buzzing with creativity, chatter, and the joy of discovering new yarn treasures.
The Event at a Glance
Our Yarn Swap was completely free, welcoming both new and seasoned crafters to refresh their yarn stash and connect with fellow makers. Attendees brought skeins of yarn to exchange, there was even a few books, notions, and patterns that were also up for grabs. We sorted the yarn by color, as people arrived with their donations, making it easy for everyone to find exactly what they were looking for.
Fun & Creative Highlights
The day was packed with engaging activities and little treats to make it extra special:
- Raffle Prizes – We had amazing donations from some of our SaSS members and put together two amazing prizes filled with craft goodies and tools.
- Drinks & Snacks – We made sure to bring some drinks and snacks because crafting always tastes better with treats!
- Free Patterns – patterns to inspire and to show some of the creative charities out there welcoming handmade donations for those in need.
- Yarn Swapping – the heart of the event, where crafters discovered new colors and textures for their projects.
Everyone left happy, many with refreshed yarn collections and hopefully new ideas for upcoming projects.
Special Thank You
We wanted give a special thanks to SaSS members Lisa @so_yarncute and Kacey @kaceebeecrafts not only for their amazing contributions to our raffles but also to helping us set up, run and clean up after the event. Also, a thank you to Gloria and Mae who stepped up to help us sort yarn as we got busy.
Thank you to our two other raffle donors, Gary @2113_painting for his paintings, and Patty’s Creations for the custom SaSS mugs.
Thank you to the Rohnert Park – Cotati Public Library for providing us with the perfect space to gather, swap and enjoy the Swap event.
And a HUGE thank you to everyone that showed up, Swapped, stayed and crafted. This event would not have been as amazing without all of you!
